Stansbury Park started as a planned community back in 1969, built around Stansbury Lake and the golf course, and it has kept growing with newer homes ever since. A lot of those homes came with a builder-grade kitchen, and owners here are ready to upgrade to real cabinets, quartz counters, and better lighting. Stansbury Park is unincorporated, so the Tooele County Building Department issues the permits, and we handle any permit and inspection the job needs when we move plumbing, gas, or electrical. There is an HOA here too, so if the project touches anything outside we help you keep it in line with the rules. The homes Terracor built around Stansbury Lake and the golf course in the 1970s and early 1980s almost all share the same kitchen. It sits closed off behind a wall, with builder oak cabinets, laminate counters, and a soffit boxing in the ceiling. Those kitchens were fine in their day, but they cut the cook off from the family room and from the water view people paid a premium to live near. On most of these floor plans that wall between the kitchen and the living room is not holding up the house, so we can open it up, drop in an island, and get the whole main floor connected again. It is the single change that makes one of these older homes feel current.
The subdivisions that filled in after 2000, plus the newer ones like Wild Horse Ranch and Lakeside where most homes went up in just the last few years, already came open to the great room. The layout is fine. What owners want to fix is the finish. The cabinets are thin, the counters are laminate or a low-grade stone, and the island is too small to sit at. We swap those out for real custom cabinets, quartz that holds up to daily cooking, a bigger island with seating, and lighting that actually reaches the counter. Same footprint, but it finally looks and works like the rest of the house.
Stansbury Park has close to doubled in size since 2010, and the buyers moving out here are trading a smaller place in the Salt Lake valley for more room near the water. When they walk a house, the kitchen is the first thing they size up. A big island with room to sit, quartz counters, soft-close drawers, and a layout that opens to the great room is what sells a home here now. If you are remodeling to enjoy the kitchen yourself, you get all of that. If you are fixing it up to sell, it is the one change that moves the number the most.
