A lot of those homes came with the same builder-grade bathroom: a plastic tub, a small vanity, and tile that has seen better days. Those are the ones people here are tired of. We have remodeled bathrooms all over the neighborhood, so we know how these homes are laid out and where the walls, drains, and vents run.
Stansbury Park is unincorporated, so the Tooele County Building Department issues the permits, and we pull the permit and build to code when the job calls for it. There is an HOA here too, so if the project touches anything outside we help you keep it in line with the rules. The homes Terracor built around Stansbury Lake and the golf course have small, boxed-in bathrooms. The hall bath is a tight tub-and-shower with a one-piece fiberglass surround, a small vanity, and tile that has cracked or gone out of style twice over. In a lot of these homes the primary bath is barely bigger than the hall bath. When we remodel one, we often steal a few feet from a closet or a linen space to make room for a real double vanity or a proper walk-in shower. These are older houses, so we plan for what we find behind the wall, like galvanized supply lines or a vent that needs redoing, and we tell you before it turns into a surprise.
The newer subdivisions, including Wild Horse Ranch and Lakeside where most homes are only a few years old, went the other way. The primary bath has a big footprint but cheap finishes: a corner garden tub nobody has used in years, a fiberglass shower, and a cultured-marble vanity top. The most common job we do in these homes is pull that unused garden tub and build one large tile walk-in shower in its place, then add a real double vanity and better lighting. You already have the square footage. We just make it feel like the spa bath it was framed to be.
Most people out here drive over the pass to the Salt Lake valley for work, so the bathroom is the first room they touch every morning and often the last one at night. That is worth building right. A wide walk-in shower with a bench and a glass panel, a double vanity so two people are not fighting for the sink, a good exhaust fan, and heated tile underfoot for the cold Tooele Valley mornings all change how the day starts.
