We build the shower right, with a proper pan, waterproofing behind the tile, and a bench, so it lasts. Plenty of Erda homes run on a private well, and that hard, mineral-heavy water is tough on a bathroom. It leaves scale on glass and chrome and wears out valve cartridges faster than city water does. We plan around it: we spec fixtures and shower valves that handle hard water, we talk through a softener if you do not already run one, and we pick glass and tile that are easier to keep clean instead of finishes that show every water spot.
